Ma goat, ma tiger...no Macao

Hello Gentle readers. For our last trip away from Mainland China before we leave we decided to visit the tiny former Portugese colony of Macao.

Famous for its casinos Macao is only 11 square miles in area and is the most densely populated place on the planet.

It has its own Eiffel Tower and has a recreation of Venice including gondolas and singing Gondoliers.

It looks and feels like Portugal in many ways but has been heavily influenced by China.

For his homework Robert made a few videos. I have included them below.

Its been a while and Big news

Hello Gentle reader and welcome to only my 4th post in 2019.
Around this time in 2017, I broke the news that Lena, Robert and I were leaving Latvia and heading to China.

Well 2 years later and I am pleased to say that we are on the move once again in the summer.

Lena and I have both been offered teaching jobs in Yerevan, Armenia.

The blog will change name againand in the time between now and when we arrive in Armenia I will try to bring you some cool facts about that country.

Holidays 1

Hey Gentle Readers its me again....how are you. Yes I know I have not posted for a while but CBIS grade 10 students were doing their Cambridge IGCSE mock exams and I was really busy.

All over now though and as its Chinese New Year time again we are on holiday for 3, yes 3 weeks. We are in Bali......woo hoo.

We arrived early on Sunday morning after a 10 hour stop in Manilla and a visit to the Mall of Asia. I was a bit disappointed with the mall but we went to the movies and had a cool chocolate and marshmallow waffle treat and saw a martial arts competition.

We are staying in 3 different hotels over 11 nights and I want to share some photos with you. The first hotel was the Anumana Bay View in Jimbaran.
The room was nice but but breakfast was disappointing. The pool was small and very cold.

The view from the Anumana roof terrace

We visited Ubud to see the Monkey forest and the Rice terraces and tried the Luwak coffee. We also saw some very familiar shaped souveniers.

Penis....anyone?

Robert makes friends with Lisa the Luwak.

We also visited Ulawattu temple and GWK statue but both were a little disappointing.
The temple and statue are nice but very overpriced.

The GWK statue. It has Vishnu riding Garuda.

Father and Son...pretty in Purple.

1953: Samuel Becket's play 'Waiting for Godot' is performed for the first time.

1965: Footballer and actor Vinnie Jones is born.

1969: Marilyn Manson, US shock rocker is born.

Phnom Penh 2

After a few days in Siem Reap we returned to Phnom Penh. Here are some pictures.

Phnom Penh was not that nice to visit. The streets are full of trash, even near to the Royal Palace.
