A sad day

It saddens me greatly to see the news that another secularist blogger in Bangladesh has been murdered because of his beliefs and his stance against religious fundamentalism.
This brings the number killed in the last year or so to 6.

The victim Nazimuddin Samad a law student had bravely protested against the wave of religious violence in his country and had recently blogged that because of acts committed in the name of Islam that "He had no religion."
He did not comdemn those that believed or try to impose his beliefs on others. This was just a young man who was against all forms of religious intolerance.
I mourn for his loss and send my sympathies to his family but we must also remember that our own right to free speech is sometimes looked down on in some societies and that as long as there are people who fight against any form of fundamentalism, the ignorant people and extremists will never win.

In his honour I am also happy to publically say to the whole world that, like Nazzimudin, I HAVE NO RELIGION.
