Top 10 Fun facts about: Thailand

Hello Gentle readers and welcome to my top 10 facts about Thailand.


1. Buddhism is Thailand's main religion with nearly 95% of the population following that faith.


2. The worlds smallest mammal, the Bumble Bee Bat is found in Thailand.


3. In 1996, 2 cats called Phet and Ploy were married in a ceremony that cost over $16,000.

4. The longest place name in the world is the full name of Bangkok.


5. 10% of all animal and plant species live in Thailand.

6. The largest snake ever found was found in the jungles of Thailand. It was  33 foot long  reticulated python.


7. Due to the reverence the Thai people feel for their monarchy the Hollywood movie, The King and I is banned in Thailand.


8. The 2004 Tsunami devastated Thailand's west coast killing over 8000 people.


9.  Thailand is the 51st largest country in the world by area and the 20th largest by population.

10. King Rama IX of Thailand was the world's longest reigning monarch from 1946 to 2016.
