Hello Gentle Readers
Today we went to Lake Sevan to see the natural beauty of our adopted homeland.
The weather was beautiful and the beach we wanted to go to was closed. In fact it was so closed they had dug a huge hole in the road to stop cars from getting there.
The alternate beach was hardly the white sandy paradise we had imagined but Robert at least got a bit of a swim.
We visited another Armenian Monastary and admired the amazing views of the lake.
We also visited a graveyard near Sevan where there were thousands of Armenian Kachkar's. There were also gravestones which traditionally tell people a bit about the person buried below. This includes carved pictures of their job, hobbies (wine seemed a common hobby) and in some cases how the person died.
To round off the events we visited a Sevan cheese farm and tried some amazing cheese and wine.
On the way back to Yerevan there was heavy traffic. The police were testing drivers to see if they had been drinking. Our driver wasn't tested and he told us they only test the drivers of expensive cars because only they can afford to pay the fine.
