Wednesday Thought: James Bryce

Hello Gentle reader.

A lot of you will not have heard of James Bryce. He was an Irish born British politician and diplomat who travelled extensively in Armenia and also served as the UK's Ambassador to the USA.

There is a street named after him here in Yerevan. During the Armenian genocide it was Bryce who brought the events to the attention of the British parliament.

He also wrote a book about his travels in Armenia

Here are some of his quotes.

Our country is not the only thing to which we owe our allegiance. It is also owed to justice and to humanity.

Communication is the key to education, understanding and peace.

A political career brings out the basest qualities in human nature.

Life is too short to read inferior books.

If you have enough room for your books, you don't have enough books.
