1533: The  future Elizabeth I Of England is born


1923: International Crime fighting organisation INTERPOL is founded.


1936: The last Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger) called Benjamin, dies in captivity.


1936: Rock n Roll star Buddy Holly is born.


1940: The Luftwaffe begin bombing London in what became called The Blitz.


1953: Nikita Kruschev is elected first secretary of the Communist party of the Soviet Union.


1978: Keith Moon, drummer with The Who dies.
