Armenia Day trip

Hello Gentle Readers

Today we went to Dilijan which is an area full of forests and Switzerland style beauty.

We began the day with a short hike up to Gosh Lake. While we were there we had the opportunity to watch cars get stuck in the swamp like muddy area at the top. It was entertaining to watch them being removed. We had a lovely walk around the outskirts of the lake where we looked for frogs and creatures with Robert. We then went off roading on a 4x4 back to the start.

Next we walked around Goshavank Monastary which is set in such a beautiful location. It also has an 800yr old tree in the grounds.

We then headed off to the Red Deer Sanctuary. This opened in 2013 as a way to breed and bring back the red deer population which became endangered due to poaching. We got to feed them and stroke them while we were there. It was a lovely idea and more of these types of things should be created here.

Then we went to another lake called Parc Lake. This lake was different to the other as it has been made into a tourist attraction. Today it was very busy due to it being a lovely hot day and the weekend. There is the opportunity to take a boat on the lake, eat at a lovely restaurant or picnic and there is also a huge Go Ape there for adults and children. A great place to go if you need a change of scenery.

Finally we drove to a Molokan village. We were hosted by a Molokan family where they made us the tastiest tea and homemade food. The area they live only contains Molokan people. The population of the area is 1500 people. They will not sell their land or buildings to anybody who is not a Molokan. Their lands are absolutely beautiful. They grow all their own food and live off the land. They even have ponds with fish in.

Tomorrow we are off for another adventure at Lake Sevan!!

Thanks to Maria for organizing such a great trip.
