1723: Scottish Philosopher and the Father of Modern Economic theory, Adam Smith is born.
1956: Elvis Presley performs "Hound Dog" on television for the first time.
The performance generated lots of complaints because of the suggestive "swivel hips" dance.

2001: Hurricane Alison hits Texas and causes $5.5 billion of damage.
It is the costliest storm in US history.
2004: Ronald Reagan, actor and 40th President of the United States dies.
