44BC Julius Caeser is assassinated by several Senators who were concerned at the increasing level of tyranny he threatened.

1877: The first Cricket test match is played between Australia and England at the MCG cricket ground in Melbourne. Subsequent matches between the countries became known as "The Ashes".


1937: H.P. Lovecraft, American Horror writer and creator of the CTHULHU mythos dies.



2011: Nationwide protests against Syria's President Bashar al- Assad triggers the beginning of the Syrian Civil War which in turn leads to the creation of ISIS.
