George, as you may know, is the Patron Saint of England (Scotland's friendly southern neighbour).
The English are very fond, as we all are, of their traditions. They extol the virtues of many things that they claim to be theirs, by saying "Its as English as (insert object here).
However many of the things they insert are not actually English.
Let me share them with you now.
Fish and Chips
Actually introduced by Jewish refugees from Portugal and Spain.
A nice cup of tea
Actually invented by the Chinese.
The great British Boozer
The public house was Roman and they introduced the Inn to England when they started building roads.
Polo
The sport was actually invented in Assam, India.
....even St George himself
A roman soldier with Greek Christian parents who was born in SYRIA!!!
