Latvian Inventions

Sorry gentle readers, I forgot to mention this man

For those of you who don't know who this is, he was born  Jacob Youphes in Riga, Latvia sometime in 1831.

He trained to be a tailor and in 1854 he emigrated to the USA, where he changed his name to Jacob Davis. While working one day a lady came into the shop he worked at and asked for a pair of hard wearing trousers that her husband, who was a woodcutter, could wear. So he set to work, cutting the toughest material he had and reinforcing it with rivets.

Yes, Gentle Reader, you guessed it.

A LATVIAN INVENTED JEANS!!!!
