Hey gentle readers after all my 'praise' for England earlier today I thought I would redress the balance with some praise for my own homeland, Scotland.
The photo above is very appropriate for me because although I was not born in Scotland, I am extremely proud to be Scottish by choice. To celebrate the Scot in all of us I want to share with you some other Great Scots whose innovations and Inventions have shaped the whole world and helped every person, yes even the English, on our planet.
James Chalmers: Invented the postage stamp in 1838
Alexander Graham Bell: Invented the telephone in 1876
Ian Donald: Invented the Ultrasound machine in 1958
John MacLeod: Invented Insulin for treating Diabetes
Alexander Fleming: Discovered Penicillin
Ian Wilmut: Created Dolly, the first cloned Mammal.
I know what you are thinking, but they were just friends.
If thats not enough for you A Scotsman also invented:
television, radar, logarithms, modern economics, hypodermic syringe, tarmac, pneumatic tyre, the ATM and the PIN, canning food, the bicycle, golf, the SAS, the BBC, Sherlock Holmes, Peter Pan, fingerprinting, ice hockey, the MRI Scanner, the refrigerator, the bank of England, the bank of France
and many, many more.
